We want to sell an old Bethlehem Steel Co. brass builders

Resolved Question:

We want to sell an old Bethlehem Steel Co. brass builder's plate on eBay that we inherited, but don't know much about it or what it might be worth. Unfortunately, someone scratched out the Engine number.

Hello,

My name is XXXXX XXXXX I am a Personal Property Appraiser specializing in Fine Art & Antiques and I am here to help! Using my resources to look into your inquiry, I was able to find comparable sales that give your plate a current secondary market value of $60 - $110 USD at auction or in a private sale.

Thanks for the info on pricing, but can you tell us more about what this plaque was originally used for? Information about an item always improves an eBay listing!
Expert:  Appraiser Alan AOA C replied 4 years ago.
It's simply a plaque that was put onto a locomotive by the builder similar to the manufacturers badge on a car.
