I can't get my book to open up. I am connectyed to wifi
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: fire- Amazon... about 1 year old
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: just today. I actually was able to get on earlier and when I tried later all I get is a black screen when I touch my book
JA: Anything else you want the Android expert to know before I connect you?

I'm sorry. It looks like the system software is corrected, can you go to menu / settings -> Device option and reset it to factory settings and check?

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap Settings.
  2. Tap Device Options, and then tap Reset to Factory Defaults.
  3. Tap Reset to confirm.
  4. Once the kindle is reset, followed the on-screen instructions in order to set up the kindle again and check.

If needed, please try:

  1. From Home, swipe down from the top of the screen and then tap Settings.
  2. Tap My Account (or Registration....)
  3. Then tap on option Deregister and confirm.
  4. Tap Register.
  5. Then tap on option If you already have an Amazon account.
  6. Then enter your Amazon account information, and then tap Register, and check.
