Please could you assist - I am trying to purchase a book , but each time I click on buy , a message comes up saying that I do not have a valid credit card. I have checked it and updated it several times but I'm not coming right.

This is usually an issue with the Firmware, so I would first like you to do this please.

Remove the charger from the Kindle and hold the power button to off for 35 seconds.

Release, then connect the charger and try to turn on the Kindle and purchase a book.

No, I want you to do the following please.

Visit the page for your account on your computer - https://www.amazon.com/manageyourkindle

Log into using your Amazon account (the same Amazon account you have registered on your Kindle)

On the right side select "Settings"

Under 'Kindle Payment Settings' (first option)

Click 'Edit Payment Method'

Change your credit card details.

Restart your Kindle and it will update

then try to purchase.

I have tried that - but no success , the strange part is that it I have managed to buy a book through Amazon on my laptop - it sends the book to my phone as well but not my kindle

you need to do this on the Kindle itself by registering it, you did not tell me the model but to do this you either

  1. From Home, swipe down from the top of the screen, and then tap More.
  2. Tap My Account.
  3. Tap DeRegister.
  4. Then repeat and register

For most other Kindles

  1. From Home, tap the Menu icon, and then tap Settings.
  2. Tap Registration.
  3. In the Deregister Your Kindle dialog box, tap Deregister
  4. Then tap Register

And register it to the correct account
