Having a problem with Kindle. Note on screen says kindle will reset to factory and to reregester. amazon password ***** excepted. I don't recall a password ***** kindle.
where do I go from here?

I'm sorry about the issue. What's the model of your kindle? Does it have touchscreen?

What happens when you reset to factory?

Is it asking for the Amazon account password? Or the kindle's login password? Or the Wi-Fi / wireless password, etc.?

What is the model of your Internet modem/router device?

Do you also have a laptop / wireless computer that is currently connected via wireless? If so, does it have Windows xp, vista, or 7, 8, 10, or Mac?
