Difference between 2 plugs: I have an HTC ONE M8 phone. It

Customer Question

Difference between 2 plugs: I have an HTC ONE M8 phone. It uses what I think is called a micro USB plug. Every addon that I have uses this plug. I ordered an MHL to HDMI cable. It has the plug on the left. I do not think they are compatible. Are they? What is the technical name for both plugs? I phoned HTC and they said my phone IS MHL compatible. I don't want to ruin the jack in my phone.
Uh oh! I have no idea how to post my photo here. If anyone wants to tackle this let me know how to post the pix.

The end that connects to the phone is called, MHL (mobile high definition link) It will look just like your charge cable end. The other end should connect to your hdmi cable. The hdmi is probably gonna need to be micro hdmi to hdmi.

Ok for that part of my question, but, what is the connector on the right side of the photo?

Expert:  Randy Boman replied 1 year ago.
