Customer Question

My Kindle is registered to my husband's account since he ordered it for me. I would like to have it registered to my account (I'm not sure that I have one, but when I entered my e-mail address the screen said that they already had it, but they didn't say I could register under my name) so that he won't have to forward everything to me. How can I go about changing the registration?

Try this please> Go to Amazon.com and sign in with your email and password, then choose register device.

Deregister your Kindle from your Amazon account if it is registered to the wrong account or if you no longer want to use it to purchase books, periodicals, or Kindle active content.

To deregister your Kindle, your device must be connected to a wireless network.

Important: After you deregister your Kindle, the device will be deregistered from your Amazon account and you won't be able to access items stored in your content library or items previously downloaded through your Kindle reading applications.

  1. From your computer:
    1. Visit Manage Your Content and Devices
    2. Select Your Devices.
    3. Select your device or app and select Deregister in the Actions column.
    4. To confirm, select Deregister again on the pop-up window.
  2. From your device:
    1. From Home, press the Menu button, and then select Settings.
    2. Select Deregister.

After deregistering, you can register your Kindle to another Amazon account.

These are the steps from the kindle home screen.

  1. From Home, press the Menu button, and then select Settings. Select Registration.
  2. Specify the Amazon account you want to use for your Kindle:
    • If you already have an Amazon account: Select this option. Enter your Amazon account information. Select Register. Your name will appear as the Registered User when registration is complete.
    • If you do not have an Amazon account: Select this option and follow the on-screen instructions to set up a new Amazon account.

I also want the books that I have ordered to be placed in my account. The Kindle says at the top to the page "Ronald's Kindle" It should say Valerie's Kindle.

When you deregister and then register that will be corrected also.
