I am sorry that your Galaxy S3 phone is not working. Please do a Hard Reboot as follow:

  1. Remove battery out and put it back in.
  2. Press and hold down Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time.
  3. Release all buttons when Logo comes up.
  4. You will see the menu options:
  5. Select Reboot system now. (Volume buttons to go up or down, select with Home or Power button)
  6. Let your phone reboot.
  7. See if you can swipe to unlock your phone.

same result, did get reboot request but screen still says double tap and swipe but won't open

Do you mind if we do a Factory Reset? We will be able to tell if this issue is hardware or software.

Please do the following steps do reset your phone:

  1. Remove battery out and put it back in.
  2. Press and hold down Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time.
  3. Release all buttons when Logo comes up.
  4. You will see the menu options:
  5. Select wipe data/factory reset. (Volume buttons to go up or down, select with Home or Power button)
  6. Select Yes — delete all user data.
  7. Finally, select Reboot system now.
  8. Your phone will reboot and go through setup steps.

 

If your phone still not responding to swipe or touch, the digitizer (touch screen) is faulty. Please go back and exchange another phone. This issue with digitizer is not that common. However, this could be a QC issue. They did not test it fully before shipped out.
