Hi Nick and thank you assisting me...i believe its the galaxy gs2 and just started having this problem just recently and my phone will turn off and on...and then when i turn my phone completely off, i put the charger on and it will automatically turn on without me pressing the power button on the top right side of the phone

Thanks Matthew,

Please do a quick reset on your phone. First, please move/copy your DOWNLOADED files (photos, music, videos, and files) to SD card or transfer to computer. Then proceed as follow:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Select Applications / Apps->All
  3. Select Manage Applications
  4. Select All
  5. Select Media Storage and Clear Data
  6. Go back to ALL and select Google Services Framework
  7. Select Clear Data.
  8. Turn your device off and back on.
  9. Test your phone again.

Thanks.

This seems like a hardware issue.

When and where did you buy your Samsung S2?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
i have had it now for about 4-5 months now and i bought it when i was stationed in south carolina

Thanks.

We can do a factory reset to really make sure your issue is hardware. Note: This will wiped your data out so please back up your CONTACTS, TEXT MESSAGES, and DATA (PHOTOS, MUSIC, VIDEOS, and FILES) to microSD card or connect to your computer and transfer them out. Then proceed as following:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Select Privacy
  3. Select Factory data reset
  4. Select Reset phone
  5. Select Erase everything
  6. Your device will reset which will take about 2-3 minutes. Set it up again and test your charging issue.

Here are the steps to backup your Contacts to SD:

To export:

  1. Go to Contacts.
  2. Select Import/Export
  3. Select Export to SD card. Your contacts will copied to SD under a vcf file.

To import:

  1. Go to Contacts.
  2. Select Import/Export
  3. SElect Import from SD card. Your contacts will be imported from SD file.

If after this reset and your phone still cannot charge, it is a hardware issue. You will have to call Samsung phone support to have it send-in for repair or replacement.

Its also weird that my phone will charge on the car charger when the phone is turned off...
Expert:  Nick H. replied 4 years ago.
Matthew,

If your phone is on, it will not charger even with the car charger?

What about charging using an USB cord to your computer?
