I have been given an eee pad that was purchased in the US. I'm in Australia. I only got the transformer pad (including dock), a cable to the power with USB, and a power adapter with US plug. Should the eee pad charge with either an apple power adapter (there seem to be tons of these about) or direct into a USB 2 port on another pc/laptopThanks
Already Tried: Tried apple USB power adapter and pc USB port
What happens when you try to charge with with the power adapter and USB cable? You should be able to a least charge with the computer cable but it might charge the tablet slower then if you charged it with a wall adapter. I wouldnt recommend charging the tablet with the apple adapter because it is another brand and it could damage your battery in the long run. So I would try charging it with the computer with until you get the correct charger for it.
The power supply is US and not Australian so I cannot plug it in ... Unfortunately I have no pin adapter. I have had it plugged into a working USB (tested with other devices) port on a PC for over 10hrs but not even an amber charge light as yet
Ok it seems that is is not getting enough mili-amps from the computer to get a correct charge to charge the dock and the tablet. You will need to get the charging cable to charge the tablet with the computer or the wall adapter to charge the tablet on the dock.
I have the charging cable, just not an Australian wall adapter at the moment. Surely the fact that pc USB -> charging cable -> eee pad power connector combination does not work means there is some other issue. Is there another way to isolate the problem without dropping lots of $$ on parts that may not be at fault?
Apologies but it was kind of level 1 tech support which I could provide for myself. The issue is not fixed ( you haven't even raised the possibility of a dead battery) so cannot give you a 3 or more score. However I do thank you for the time and effort you did put in
Are you using the keyboard dock or is this a regular dock for the tablet?
Sorry .. Bare with me, be right back to try those suggestions ... I have a 2 year old demanding my attention.BRB
Thats fine take your time.
I was using the keyboard dock. I have now connected the Power cable direct to the tablet. (I have no manual so having to feel my way through this).Initially an image of a battery with a lot of red - I guess signifying flatness - popped up but only for a second. As u say there is no charge LED on the tablet.Switching back to the apple wall adapter but this time direct into the tablet seems to be looking positive. I get an Asus splash screen and then a graphic to "connect my charger" ... Then it goes blank. . Not sure if this is expected behaviour when using an apple wall adaptor but it is a positive sign.* will the apple wall adaptor charge the tablet? Or does it just pass enough current to show the tablet works?* how do I get the dock charged or have we proven the battery is dead?* how to replace battery ... There does not seem to be a way into the dock* Are you able to provide a manual for the EEE pad TF101 ... I looked but could not findWe're getting there ... Thanks
Hi,It sounds like the apple charger seems to give the tablet some juice to power it on. It might take a longer for tablet to fully charge. So let it charge for 4 hours and see what happens. Have tried the usb cable from the computer directly to tablet? According to the manual it should charge but not show an indicator light. To charge the dock you will need to have the proper power adapter for that. The battery is the dock is not removable. You can check with eee support to see if you can get it replaced through warranty. Also you can go here for the manual for the tablet. They also have an usb driver for your computer so that may help with charginghttp://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=20&s=16&m=Eee+Pad+Transformer+TF101&os=32
