Hi and thanks for using JustAnswer. My name is XXXXX XXXXX X will do whatever I can to help answer your questions and get your problem resolved!

When you connect it to the PC while Kies is running, what happens? Also, which version of Windows is on the PC, XP, Vista, Windows7?

Customer replied 322 days and 11 hours ago.

Kies 2.0 will go through the trouble shoot process and finish with a green check mark indicating "complete" when it is done. Nothing else happens.

I am running Windows 7.

Ok, that sounds like an issue with the drivers. Follow these steps(dont skip any):

  1. Download a free program called USBDeview from Cnet
  2. Run it, and remove/uninstall ALL Drivers listed that have the words "Samsung Android" or "Android" in first two columns.
  3. Reboot the PC
  4. On the Galaxy: open the Settings App, choose Development, Enable USB Debugging
  5. Run the Kies program on the PC
  6. Plug the phone into the PC

If that doesnt work, you will need to follow these steps

  1. Uninstall Kies from your computer, completely
  2. Reboot the PC
  3. Download the newest version of Kies from here
  4. Install it and then reboot the PC again, before you plug the Android in
  5. After the PC reboots, open and run Kies
  6. Reboot the Android
  7. After it completely reboots, give it two minutes, plug the USB cord into the Android and then into a USB port you haven't used yet, or at a minimum a different one than last time.

OK Eric. Give me a few moments to try to do those steps....

Eric,

I went to USBDEVIEW from CNEt and downloaded Aro 2012. I got it runnubg and now it is scanning my registry. Is this supposed to happen? I don't know where to go to unsinstall those drivers.

No, I think you clicked on an Ad - Aro isn't USBDeview.

This link should take you directly to the download page and being the download for you. Once you click the link, give it about 15-20 seconds and the DL should start automatically.

Customer replied 322 days and 11 hours ago.

Oops. Let me go to that link then. I guess I'll have to uninstall that Aro program later.

No problem, just use the new link I posted and give it up to 30 seconds to start the download by itself.

Customer replied 322 days and 11 hours ago.

I opened the USBDeview application and it lists a whole table of devices. But there is nothing called out as Samsung.

Click on the top of the second column 'description' so that it sorts them alphabetically. Then look for anything called Android phone, Galaxy, Samsung Android, etc. If you still dont find any, just continue the steps.

Customer replied 322 days and 10 hours ago.

Nothing is listed with those words. I've plugged in, and unplugged, my Android to see if anything pops up. Nothing. I'll reboot the PC.

While its rebooting, make sure you enable USB Debugging on the phone.

Customer replied 322 days and 10 hours ago.

Before I reboot, I have to ask: did I open Deview to the proper utility? I have a pop up that shows all devices, but there was nothing indicating where or how I would uninstall drivers.

Picture
Expert:  Answers by Eric replied 322 days and 10 hours ago.

Yes, you did. It only opens to one screen. Since you didn't find the drivers though, we can safely assume thats the issue on why it wont connect - its not installing the drivers.

Customer replied 322 days and 10 hours ago.

If I reboot now, how will I get reconnected with you?

Just come back to this webpage and sign in with the same email you signed up with, or click one of the links in the emails you got from us - then you will see your open questions and can get right back to me ;)

Customer replied 322 days and 10 hours ago.

OK. I am at work right now and may have to break away. I'll go ahead and give you a good rating and pay the fee, but ask that you please continue to help me when I come back. Thanks.

Hi again Eric,

this message comes to you at about 4:35 this afternoon (Tuesday, 6/26).

Had to step away from this probleM to attend to work. Came back, reinstalled Kies...tried everything you advised...and still couldn't get my PC to recognize my Samsung S2. I went back to Samsung.com and downloaded the drivers they had for my phone and Windows 7. No soap. I am beginning to believe my phone is a POS.

Hey Eric, let me ask you this. Would you mind scheduling a Remote Login Session with me, so I can check your PC and see why it wont connect? It doesnt cost anything extra - I would be happy to do it just to help you get this thing working.

We can do it tomorrow, late afternoon around 6PM EST is the only time I have available. If not then, we can do it the day after.

Customer replied 321 days and 13 hours ago.

Hi again Eric. 6 PM might be tough. Can you do 4:00 on Friday?

Picture
Expert:  Answers by Eric replied 321 days and 5 hours ago.
