my nook simple touch is frozen. won't turn on or off. What should I do?

 



Already Tried:
holding the power button. plugged it in to be sure it was charged. hold the nook button,

Sometimes your Nook can be frozen or unresponsive and keep you from using the device properly.
Don't panic, there are several procedures that can fix this problem. Let's start with soft reset.

Please follow the steps below:
1. Press and hold the power button until the unit flashes and then restarts.
2. This can take from 20 seconds to 1 minute sometimes.
3. This will reload the operation software much like rebooting your home computer.

I held if for about 2 minutes. No response

Hi Bonnie,

Thanks for the reply.

Please follow the steps below to perform factory reset:
1. Press and hold Power button
2. As soon as the screen flashes, press both the left and right lower buttons on the face of the nook touch, hold them down for several seconds during the start up and it’ll prompt you for a system wipe.
3. Press Home twice to confirm.

This will actually restore it to the same exact way you got it from the store.

I tried it again while waiting and now I have a your nook is starting up message. it has been on screen for about 3 minutes. How long should this take?

Yes. You need to register your nook again using the email address you purchased your books with. After you have registered your nook, all of the books you purchased will appear in your nook library
