I saw you posted a new question. Please work with me on this one.
The problem of the disappearing Status Bar on my Atrix 4G has returned. The previously suggested "fix" failed after a short time, and the Status bar again disappeared.
Please take the battery out. Put it back. Turn your phone on and see if it will disappear again. Thanks.
This did not work. The Status bar still disappears after several minutes
Thanks John.Did you update your phone recently? This is a known issue with recent update so I just want to ask.
Hello,
Thanks for the speedy response! Yes, I updated a while back (I don't remember when, but fairly recently) to Android version 2.3.6. I wondered whether the recent update was the culprit.
Thanks, John
John,Thanks so much for your info. As expected, this was the recent update that caused this issue. Please backup your files (photos, videos, music) to SD card or computer. Then do the following steps:
Select Media Storage and Clear Data
Go back to ALL and select Google Services Framework
Turn your device off and back on. Test your phone for at least 30 minutes or so to make sure the issue will come back or not. Thank you.
No luck. The Status Bar was visible for about 20 minutes, but it then disappeared. Will I have to wait for a Motorola update?
Thanks very much for your help.
You are welcomed John.Last thing I would do is to do a factory reset for your phone. Unless you have time to back up your data files (photos, videos, music). I know it will take lot of time to set them all back. But if you have time, back your data up to SD card or computer. Then reset your phone as follow. This process will wipe your data on the phone.
-Go to Settings
-Select Privacy
-Select Factory data reset
-Select Reset phone
-Select Erase everything
-Your phone will reset which will take about 3-5 minutes. Set it up again and test your issue again. Thank you.
Hello again,
Right now I'm hesitant to do a Factory Data Reset. I assume that this will erase all my applications. Am I correct on that? I did this once some time back on another phone, and the Android backup / restore program was mediocre. It took me many days to get things back to near-normal. I'm a bit chicken about this now, so I probably should wait for a "fix" from Motorola. Any chance that will be coming along?
Thanks again for your excellent help and your speedy responses. Much appreciated.
John
John,Sorry for the bug with this update. Please wait it out until the next update. Or you can bring your phone to the Verizon store and ask them if they can downgrade for you.
Very good advice. It's an AT&T phone, so I'll bring it to them in a couple of days and see whether they can downgrade to the earlier version (which was flawlessfor me).
Again, I've appreciated all of your suppot.
Very Best Wishes,
Alright John. You are welcomed. I am closing this question. Thanks for using JustAnswer and have a great day!
