download error 495

Resolved Question:

I have moved some apps to my sim card to make room for a system update since then I have been unable to download any new apps for update any existing apps as i get the following error message download error 495, this happens with apps on the sim card or phone, I am using a HTC desire

Its not just the kindle app but all the apps I have on my phone, that was just an example as I tried to update that again this morning. I have using a HTC desire phone.

Are you signed into your gmail account on the phone?
Are you connected to wifi or using 3/4g?

yes signed into gmail and I am using wifi at the moment

Ok turn off wifi for now and let me know if you get the same error while using the 3/4g connection.

its working using the 3g updating the apps and downloading a new one

Ok thank you that is what I thought may be happening. This usually happens due to a bandwidth error. Similar to what makes videos stop and start when watching them on youtube. The error means that the download is basically doing that and may get corrupted. If you are using a gaming system, downloading with another device, or streaming internet videos that can all contribute to this. A firewall on your wireless router can cause it as well. If it worked before turn your phone completely off and remove the battery. Wait at least 10 minutes and then try it again. That should give it enough time to reset and get it working again.
