Hi,let's see if we can work together to get to the root of your problem! will try my best to help!

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 4 months ago.

Starter solenoid has a single wire from the keyswitch , that energizes the solenoid. All other wires, battery cable and smaller wire, all go to the battery cable terminal. Could you have switch wire on the battery terminal?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
no wires hooked up same way as taken off
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 4 months ago.

No wires to the small connections on the solenoid> Then the starter solenoid is stuck.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I guess I will have to pull starter back off
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 4 months ago.

You tried removing the small wires, and no difference?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Doing it now
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
it must be solenoid stuck I tried removing small wires but will do nothing with wires removed but as soon as I hook them back up starter goes to cranking with the key off
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 4 months ago.

Sounds like the small wires are in the wrong place! Do you have a voltmeter to see if there is voltage at either wire?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
one small wire plugs into solenoid the other has to be put on the starter with the battery cable the is no other way to hook them up so they cannot be hooked up wrong
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 4 months ago.

OK, so there is no voltage coming from other source, or bad key switch.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I also replace key switch thinking that may be problem but the same thing
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 4 months ago.

You did replace the starter with solenoid, not just solenoid?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I even checked the wires to make sure not burnt thru
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
any other ideas
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 4 months ago.

Did you check the wires with a voltmeter, to see if voltage is coming from elsewhere? How did this all begin. that starter was replaced?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
have no voltmeter starter started dragging then eventually clicking then finally smoking and burning up all the wires look good about at my wits end with this Kubota only has 122 hours on it

If you jump the switch wire, the plug on wire terminal, to the battery post, does the starter engage like it should? If it does, I think the wire from the keyswitch is melted to the hot wire in the harness!

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
we already had this conversation
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 4 months ago.

OK< I just hate to see you have to get another starter and come up with same problem.

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 4 months ago.

I see question is still open, did you find problem?
