Customer Question

I have a John Deere 5045e that loses engine power when you are traveling down the road in high gear, no missing it acts like the brakes are locked but they are not, this causes the temp, gauge to go to red all fluid levels are good, on flat ground it does ok small incline rpm go from 2400 down to 1200 or so and slowly build back up to 2400 rpm all without moving throttle, no smells no radiator over flow, no fluid loss anywhere. Have you ever loosened the brake bleeder to see if there is pressure on the brake line when it acts up? With internal brake discs, they can drag and cause all the over heating and drag. The bleed screw is in the top of the rear axle housing, here is link showing it.

If there is pressure, check the brake valve and the pedals , they may not be fully returning, keeping brake applied.
