Customer Question

I have a LONG 2460 Tractor 1995 year model hydraulic oil is leaking from the cotter pin drain on the right hand side of the tractor. Any idea where this leak may be coming from and how hard to fix? I know the cotter pin is a drain for water and for oil
when there is a leak. Thanks Robert

What transmission do you have?
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.
With standard transmission, the oil would have to be coming from transmission input shaft. Could be caused by transmission over full.

With hydrostat transmission, leak would be the front seal in transmission. requiring the tractor to be split to get at the front seal.

OK, is transmission over full?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I don't think so will check that later today. The transmission and the hydraulic are the same reservoir. I have a loader on the tractor and it works fine. I checked pressure with gauge and that was fine but the 3 point does not lift up all the way it does work some.

Transmission usually has no front seal! so if oil leaks out, it is usually from too much oil!

Thanks I will check
