Tractor has a hydraulic clutch to engage the pto. Has pto been working and now has gone to slipping? How did it develop? All at once , or get worse with time?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
all at once. I just checked the transmission fluid and it appears to be low. not showing up on the stick. Could this be the problem?
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.
yes, it has to have fluid to engage the pto clutch.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
could adding fluid solve the problem or may there be damage? There's no burning smell, no noises
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.
Adding fluid before going any further!
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok, hope it's as simple as that.

3ph and front end loader work, do they operate off the same fluid reservoir?
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.
Yes, all get the fluid from the transmission.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the pto's problem could still be related to low fluid?
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.
Possible low fluid, start there. The pto is manually engaged with the lever, it has to be going into gear or the shaft would not turn. That only leaves the pto clutch as problem. It is internal and the transmission has to be dis-assembled to get at it.
