Blue smoke is coming out of the engine, especially when turning it off. What is the problem?
Already Tried: It is a very hot day...in the 90's. I have turned it off and parked in the shade with the hood up.
good morning I will help you with your problem today first please do not rate until all your questions are answered that way you won't have to pay twice.Blue smoke is a sign of engine oil burning are you using oil or is it low on engine oil?does it smoke while running? When you first started up in the morning does it smoke blue? Also can you give me the make and model of the engine?
No, it hasn't used any noticeable oil...I filled it up prior to use and it is still at the full mark. I drove it for about an hour before the blue smoke appeared. I am pulling a trailer carrying sticks and limbs from a recent storm. It is a John Deer 100 model lawn tractor.
Is this the first time putting under a load for awhile?
Yes, except for one short haul yesterday...no problem then.
It sounds like you may have some carbon deposits on your rings and your valves how much gas fills your tank?
2.1 gal. fills the tank. I filled it to about the 90% level before starting this morning. Also, there was no smoke at the beginning. But, it started smelling hot after about an hour. There was a lot of starting an stopping about every 10 yards or so.
It sounds as if it is a little gummed up I would get some two cycle oil and mix a couple caps in your tank now it will smoke for that tank but will also burn off carbon so the next tank should be clear just don't add to much or it will smoke you out so start with one cap if its not bad then add one more mix the best you can you can use like a turkey baster to remove a little fuel and squirt rite back in to mix
Experience: I worked on all types semis, forklifts, farm, fire, ect.
