Customer Question

I have a massey ferg 50 1958 vintage. Stuck in reverse, back up to implement hooked up tried to shif out of reverse will not
come out.The high low stick works fine, the clutch is working as I am able to run in reverse. I have drained and refilled the trans hydraulic fluid. I have rocked the tractor back and forth to try and release reverse no luck. I really do not want to pull the shift tower if I do not have to. I use the tractor in light duty work.

Hi
I'm Wayne
I will help you with this
Good Afternoon,
Is the stick still in reverse also , or is it loose
if still in reverse,
shut tractor down , NO clutch, bump starter while pushing gear shift to neutral
This worked many times for me ,
If not then , Sorry, the Cover removed

The stick is in reverse, the high low range stick still moves from low to high and neutral. The stuck stick is loose but will not come out with or without the

clutch or engine runnng or dead.

Hi
Thank You for that
is the stick wobble around like not in a gear
Did you try pushing on the stick, engine off no clutch
pushing on the stick to get to neutral
If all of this fails ,
Well sorry to say , need to pull the cover

Customer replied 292 days and 8 hours ago.

The stick is very ridgid and does not feel as if it is broke or detached from

the shift rail. othing popped or grinded when I put it into reverse the first time. Note I have not used it in two months or so.

I cannot bump the starter with it in gear, the high low shifter has to be in the neutral to start. Which puts the whole transmission in neutral. Unless there is a way to bypass that safety feature to keep it in gear.

Morning

There should be a micro switch at the lever , look for that
and jump the wires together

Nothing has helped, I will probaly pull the tower this weekend. I hope maybe

someting is amiss with the shift lever it self.
