Customer Question

I have a 2002 mdx and was told the solenoid is bad and I need to replace the transmission. Is this correct?
JA: When was your transmission fluid last checked?
Customer: A week ago...the mechanic did all of that
JA: What is the model of your '02 Acura?
Customer: Mdx touring
JA: What year is your ''02 Touring?
Customer: 2002
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: No I took it to a mechanic who told me the solenoid is bad - it's too much to fix a car this age
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: No

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

If a solenoid has failed it shouldn't be necessary to replace the entire trans unless there was further damage. I'm not certain that replacing the entire transmission would be necessary in your case.

Do you know what fault codes are setting?
What specific symptoms are you having?
