2002 Acura CL intermittently loses all electrical power and

Customer Question

2002 Acura CL intermittently loses all electrical power and won't start.
When it does start and after driving it 10 miles it won't start again.
Opening and closing the hood seems to be a solution and then the
car starts. Acura dealer recommended replacing the main relay which
was done but didn't fix the no electrical problem ....
I can test if the problem is present by trying if the power seat will
move. If it moves I know the car will start. If it doesn't move the
car will not start.

the main relay is a common issue with them,

But did the dealer retrieve any codes at the time of main relay replacement ?

are there any codes present at this time ? and if there is what are they ?

the seat moves and car will start, we need to look at the seat circuit diagrams and see what is on it , if it malfunctions , and the circuit runs thru the security system , then that will the area we nee to look at it

is the security light on or flashing when this happens and you have key in ignition and you trying to start it

have you noticed the security light ?

please let me know

Thank You ***** ( aka -Customer)

There is no electrical power to anything in the flashing lights just no electrical power to anything....battery is good & almost new....the Acura dealer service could not find the problem since it is intermittent & they could not duplicate the problem when car was in for service

ok I see, can you give me some time , I want to research this to see if there is some tsb on it this specific problems ,

if not i will tell you how you need to approach the diagnostic on it , like what to check and how to have it checked

these intermittent problems are harder than you regular issues , but i will see what i can come up with
