I have a 2004 Acura RL, and the rims become considerably

Customer Question

I have a 2004 Acura RL, and the rims become considerably warm to the touch after driving a short distance. I have changed all four brake calipers and pads, the front rotors, all four break hoses, and changed the break fluid, but the problem remains. Any idea what the problem may be? I'm considering changing the master cylinder, but I don't want to throw anymore money at the problem without probable cause.
JA: How old are your brakes? When was the brake fluid last changed?
Customer: Everything was changed a year ago.
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself?
Customer: Yes.
JA: Great! What have you tried so far?

JA: Is there anything else important you think the Acura Mechanic should know about your Acura?

Hello Im Chris and I will assist you. Have you picked the car off the ground and spun the wheels after driving for a good while?

Expert:  CHRIS ZAPANTIS replied 6 months ago.

You may not have a problem if they all spin free.

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
No
Expert:  CHRIS ZAPANTIS replied 6 months ago.

Thats what I would do. If the tires spin free the heat is ok.

Expert:  CHRIS ZAPANTIS replied 6 months ago.

There should be some resistance when you spin them but not a lot.

Expert:  CHRIS ZAPANTIS replied 6 months ago.

If the master is sticking, which is very rare, you wont be able to spin them when off the ground.

Any other questions?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
I understand that, but that doesn't explain what's causing it. Furthermore, it doesn't account for the smell either.
Expert:  CHRIS ZAPANTIS replied 6 months ago.

How new are the pads?

Expert:  CHRIS ZAPANTIS replied 6 months ago.

its not uncommon for pads to smell until broken in some.

A year old
Expert:  CHRIS ZAPANTIS replied 6 months ago.

ok I didnt know that it just says you changed pretty much everything in the brake system. I figured it was just done.

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
But it's been a year.
Expert:  CHRIS ZAPANTIS replied 6 months ago.

How hot are your wheels getting can you see smoke?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
I don't see any smoke, but they get hot enough to burn your hand.
Expert:  CHRIS ZAPANTIS replied 6 months ago.

The only thing left that can be engaging them is the master cylinder but I highly doubt it. I really dont think you have a problem. Im going to opt out maybe someone else an help you better. Good Luck!
