Hello welcome to just answer I am master tech and will be able to assist you today.
is this a type S or base ?
currently what fuel do you use and grade ?
hello. i just bought the car from the dealer. 2005 acura tl 105000 no warranty. they did the timing belt the hold nine yards. i changed the spark plugs the old look very good. yes i use premium 91 also i did the tension pulleys just incase they were making the noise. no check engine codes. it only pings when i accleration then it stop. under load when i give it gas to go faster.
ok thank you for the update
what area in the us are you in ?
woonsocket rhode island
ok and are you using a name brand gas like shell or union 76 ?
how many miles has it been since the timing belt replacement ?
yes i use shell i had the car about 3 weeks tried also cleaning agent in gas tank to clean chamber
did this just start all of a sudden or after recent work
i did this when i drove off the lot from dealer. i thought they just put cheap gas. the car was empty so they filled it up for me.
could the timing be wrong
they are the ones that did the timing belt also ?
thats what im thinking. but to confirm this the cam timing will have to be checked.
yes i have all the paper what they did. new motor mount water pump tension timing belt serpitine belt. i only changed plugs, which look very good.
what plugs did you use the stock NGK or ND
i know its pinging. iam also a mech just not to much about acura only toyota. i used ngk 10 a piece
well you know the importance of the correct plugs
i put back ngk
since this was recent work I personally would pull the top covers and aling the cam marks and the crank and see if these are in time.
if one cam is off the car will ping and also set a check engine light,
no check engine light
sounds like your on the right track and the basics are covered.
lets start with the cam timing to make sure this is actually set
well let say if it was off by one tooth just one cam . what would be the result. in this car
if this is the case the pcm will try and compensate for the cam timing and alter the fuel trims and timing
how would the car react if it was off by one tooth.
the system will ping and also may lack some power on heavy acceleration
but really the first step I would proceed with is the timing and confirm 100% the marks or dead on.
okay is their onther way. to check if the timing is off. instead of taking the covers off so much work.
you can also pop the rubber plug off on the top timing covers and this will allow you to see the cam marks.
can you please send me a diagram
then roll the motor over to TDC and look in the window and you will see the marks.
yes let me load it give me a few mins ok.
okay. if this the problem back to the dealer they did the job. before i bought it
okay thk you so much
the part you want is towards the bottom of the page.
pretty easy thing to check.
