I have 2011 TL SH-Tech with 11,600 miles. It was serviced with oil change at 5,000 miles. The B16 code has popped up for last few weeks with service due. Question: Is this code unusual for the miles and if so, what could be the cause of it. Could it be triggered by the actual miles the car has been driven rather than what the speedometer is showing? Thank you

Hi Sir or Madam, welcome to Pearl.com. I'm acuramstr. The car uses a logarithm calculated by time, miles driven and temperature. To set the codes. Depending on these things it will call for service at different times. The system was tested using oil samples over a long term test using samples from different dealers in all areas of the country. My shop sent hundreds of samples to Acura over a 2 year period before this system was programed. It is pretty accurate So it is in your best interest to follow it. Just be sure after you have the car serviced it is reset to 100% so it can start the calculation starting point over each time the car is serviced.
The B16 code is not just an oil change but differential fluids for example, I wanted a better feel for this car which is just15 months old
Yes, The fluid will be changed the first time at about this millage. But it will not likely ask for the fluid change again until around 35-40k It changes the fluid earlier the first time due to break in of the clutches.
