2004 Acura TL Navigation System. Up until a week or so ago, it worked fine. Now all I get is a black-and-white screen with vertical and horizontal lines – very bright and flickers very rapidly.In addition, the row of buttons from Map/Guide through Audio don’t work, and the voice command button doesn’t work. The radio works if I push the Vol/Pwr button, but the radio information to the right of the clock display is blank.I cleaned the navi disk, but that didn't help.I looked at the fuse designations in the owner’s manual. It doesn’t mention one for the navi, but there are some abbreviations I don’t understand.I can e-mail a picture of the screen if that would help.
Hi Sir or Madam, welcome to Just Answer. I'm acuramstr.When you took the disc out Did it have any scratches or smudges on it? If you press map/guide,cancel and Menu at the same time and hold them for 30 seconds does the screen change to a set of boxes?
Hi,I pressed map/guide, cancel and menu, and held for 30 secords (twice). No change in display.Yes, there's a slight scratch on the disk near the outer edge. It's about a half-inch long and generally runs in the direction from the outer edge toward the center.
ok,That is your problem. the DVD laser is bad and it is hitting the disc.We see this in these. You can will need to send the unit into be repaired and buy a new disc. you can send it in your self or have someone remove the unit and send it for you. Unfortunately there is no to repair these in the field they must be done at a shop set up to test and repair them. I can give you the contact info for the repair facility if you want.
