acura mdx: My mechanic says..drive belts/timing belt..water pump..tune

Resolved Question:

I have 103K miles on my acura mdx. My mechanic says the drive belts/timing belt/water pump need to be replaced and a tune-up (according to acura). Fee is around $1200. I am not seeing anything in these forums about a tune-up, just the belts and water pump. Are all these things recommended at $105k and is $1200 a reasonable estimate or should I search around?

yes, plugs are due at 105,000 miles as well as the timing belt and water pump.

Labor for timing belt and water pump is 5.1 hours, About $510 at avg labor rates around $100 per hour now. Parts will run about $250. Total parts and labor $760

Spark plugs should run around $230 parts and labor.


Total for all - $990

Shop around as you can get it done cheaper than the $1200.
