I have replaced the ignition lock on this '91 Legend with manual transmission twice previously, and it's presently in the Acura dealer shop neding another one. They say they can't find the part and that there is no after-market part either. Though they are now checking with other dealers to try to locate the part they are not optimistic that one can be found. I have asked a body shop to try to locate a used part. Apparently there were few manual transmission Legends built, and also apparently the manual trans uses a different part than an automatic. I'm afraid the car will be rendered useless if a part can't be found. Any suggestions? Incidentally, I'm having the same situation with the dtriver's seatbelt, which is fraying badly. Dealer says the belt is a lifetime warranty item but the part is not available. Any idea on this?
Hi Sir or Madam, welcome to Just Answer. I'm acuramstr.Parts for these are getting pretty hard to get.I have one and run into the same thing all the time. The ignition switch might be able to be rebuilt by a lock smith. The tumblers wear out and an good lock smith should be able to fix them. As far as the seat belt goes they might not be able to get the same color but the belts should still be available. Have them call Acura and they should be able to locate one for you. Here is a good search engine to find used parts http://www.car-part.com/ This is the site I use to find parts for my legend.
