96 ACURA: TL..CRANKSHAFT..PULLY..3 BELTS,NO SERPANTINE.WHERE DO I

This answer was rated:

I HAVE A 96 ACURA 2.5 TL THE CRANKSHAFT PULLY CAME OF ,THATS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE TO ME ANYWAY.THERE ARE 3 BELTS,NO SERPANTINE.WHERE DO I START?

Hello I will help you with your question,

It sounds like the balance pulley separated leaving the hub on the crankshaft?

If so you need to remove the crank bolt and take the remains of the hub off so you can install a new balancer. There is a rubber connection between the hub and the pulley so this can separate.

The procedures to tension the belts are below

Look these over and let me know if the pulley came off the hub

THank you

HI GEORGE,

I SEE THE RUBBER GASKET.I USED A MIRROR AND SAW THE NUT I HAVE TO TAKE OFF VERY SMALL COMPARED TO MY RAM 1500.ANY SUGGESTIONS BEFORE I START?

The tool you need to hold the pulley can be rented from Autozone or O'rileys parts stores and you need a 19mm socket with a large breaker bar to turn the bolt. It is 181 ft lbs so it is really tight. You can look for "Honda or Acura crank bolt videos" to see the setup some use to get it loose. I use a 3 ft cheater and two men to get them off.

Let me know what I can do to help you

Thank you
