If the names are ***** ***** a single sell the easiest way to sort this is to create a separate column with the last name. Assuming that the name is ***** ***** cell A-1 here is the formula to move the last name:

=RIGHT(A1,LEN(A1)-FIND(" ",A1,1))

Once you have a column of last names you could select both columns and sort by the last name column. If you wanted to you could also create a column for the first name.

For the credit card charges you would want to enter the expenses on the credit card register. You could assign these charges to a company or job.

For the first name you would use the following formula... LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1,1)-1)
