In order to assist you, I have to know a little more about your situation. Please answer the following questions.

1) Were your covered by health insurance?

2) Do you owe student loans or other federal debt, child support, EDD, etc.?

3) Did you owe any taxes from a previous year or years?

There can be a number of reasons why your refund was less than you anticipated.

I see that you owe student loans, part of your refund may have been offset for that reason, or the IRS could have disallowed some of your credits or deductions. You should be receiving a letter from the IRS explaining why the refund was not the amount that you anticipated. You can call the following number to see if there were any offsets applied to your refund. It's an automated system, you do not have to speak to a live person.

If a notice is not received, contact BFS' TOP call center at ***-***-**** or TDD ***-***-****. The available hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST. Contact the IRS only if your original refund amount shown on the BFS offset notice differs from the refund amount shown on your tax return.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance to you regarding this matter.
