all of a sudden when I download from my bank it's downloading all of my accounts into one account in quicken. I tried to set up a new one step download and it just make new accounts and goes back 90 days. Can I merge the accounts and use what they are trying to use, or how can I get it back to where it's downloading into the different accounts
Try these instructions for each account. In particular make sure that the bank name and routing and account numbers are correct for each account.
first go to the bank/financial institution's websitemake sure that you can sign in and access the correct account using the id and password XXXXX you have
then open quicken
go to tools / account list
edit account details
under online services tab
click remove from one step updateunder details tab
re enter the bank name making sure to select the correct one from the list that quicken provides as you start to type the name. Check that the routing and account number is XXXXX for that account. They are how quicken interpreted the names that the bank used internally and supplied them. You just have to try them all.
also check the account and/or routing number
close the box close quicken reboot the computer
open quicken
click set up one step update / web access
go through all of the prompts to enter they type of account the name of the bank etc
put in the user id and password XXXXX
If that does not work but it will download to new accounts that quicken creates then its easiest to leave the new accounts and merge the old ones into them. You can highlight all of the transactions in the old account by
clicking on the bottom one
holding the shift key down while you hit the page up button until they are all highlighted
then right click on the highlighted transactions and select
move to account
select the new account that corresponds to that old account.
I strongly suggest making sure that you have a good backup before doing the merge as it is pretty easy to make a mistake and a lot easier to start over with the backup than to fix the mistake.
