A virus struck my computer and all data had to be moved to a service computer and hard drive wiped out. When we installed the old quickbooks program and tried to transfer back my data it asked for a registration number for the program. The number I used was not valid and cannot get the program to open. It is quickbooks 2003 and I realize that it is old, but would really like to get my data back. The serial number is XXXXX group number 4XXX-XXX-XXXX version 2003 release R2
Already Tried: Purchased a new quickbook program (quickbooks on line) in hopes of retrieving the information that way, but didn't have any luck.
Hi there, and welcome to JustAnswer, I look forward to assisting you today with your question and providing the best answer possible.
What happen when you purchased the new quickbooks program?
Which version was it?
I still couldn't access the original quickbooks files. We purchased QuickBooks small business accounting online program.
ok, was it a backup file you were trying to access?
or a company file?
the files were backed up onto the technician's service computer.
Actually there were two sets of books, personal and company files
ok, you cant put the company files in
it needs to be a backup file
do you have one available?
the were downloaded to my computer, just can't acess them
ok, and in Quickbooks, when you select File, Backup, Restore and restore from that file, what happens?
I had already done all that you suggested and could not retrieve the files. It was my understanding I was connecting to QuickBooks for a response on my registration number. The number I had was coming up invalid. So my problem was not resolved.
Sorry, we are an independent organisation that assists with Quickbook problems
If you wish to work with me to resolve this, please let me know
Thank you, but no
ok, take care and all the best
as you too
