I have Quickbooks pro 2010. It was a conversion from MSMONEY and I only use it for investments. My motherboard crashed. I have the hard drive from the dead computer installed as an external drive on my new computer and can access all of it's files. What are the possibilities of moving the software and data to the new machine?
Already Tried: Nothing - I am concerned about clicking on .exe files whose purpose I don't know. QB.exe doesn't do anything besides flash a logo.
The program needs to be reinstalled. You cant get it from the installed files on the old drive. You need to install from the original cd or download.
You can download another copy from this link if you know the order number or the last 4 digits of the credit card that you used.

Once it is installed go to
file / open
browse to the data file ( it ends qdf )
and you can open it
I recommend copying that file to your local internal drive and opening the copy rather than the original.
