Doug Millington :

If you have a question about accounting, bookkeeping, QuickBooks or Peachtree I have the answer.

Doug Millington :

Until you complete the reconcilation by hitting the "Reconcile Now" button with a reconciloation in balance you cannot print a report. One thing you can do is to use the built-in feature to "plug" the reconciliation so it will balance and print the reconciliation report - once the report in printed you can run down the reason for the reconciliation not being in balance - once you locate the errors you can go back to the bank account and re-reconcile the same month - simply change the dates so you will reconile the same month again although this time you will know what errors you need to correct - don't forget to delete the "plug" entry you made initially - make you corrections and you will have a correct reconciliation for your bank account.

Doug Millington :

Let me know if you have any questions or run into any problems - I'm here to help.

Customer :

What account does the program use to plug the out of balance or do we have to set up a plug or suspense account for the difference. I assume if the bank is out by $50.00 the plug entry will be debit plug./suspence and credit cash. When the error is foynd we will have to make an entry debgit cash and credit/plug/suspense

Doug Millington :

Yes - when you are not in balance and hti the Reconcile Now button you will be presented a choice to make an entry to bring the reconciliation into balance (the "plug" entry) - or you can make a general journal entry to bring the reconciliation into balance and then when you track down the real reason you can make the correct adjustment and then go back and simply delete the "plug" entry - then go and re-reconcile the same month
