I "rented" from my dad for the last couple of years. Had a falling out with my step-mom, dad raised rent out of spite. No lease signed ever, but asked for 30 days notice if I moved out. I gave him 30 days on May 15 to be out June 15. Now he's telling me he going to sue me, his own daughter, for all of June rent because leases are first of the month to first of the next month. Does he have a case or is he again just being spiteful?

There is nothing in the law which states that leases run from the first of one month to the first of the next month. In particular, a lease without a written document is month-to-month so it can start any day of the month and would end the same day the next month. You met the requirement of providing 30 days notice under your facts. Since you gave him the 30 days notice you only owe for the amount of time you were there. I own a 2007 Cayenne s. If I accelerate hard the engine warning light comes on and the engine seams to look power, any ideas?

The check engine light comes on when the on-board computer detects a fault in engine driveability or performance, transmission control system or transmission, or the emissions system, and a fault code is set and stored in the computer. Faults that can set the check engine light can range from a vaccuum leak, engine mis-fire, low engine compression, faulty sensor such as O2 sensor or other engine sensor, hydraulic pressure loss in transmission, transmission shift solenoid, open/short in wiring harness, emission evaporative system leak, or one of over a hundred different reasons.The only way to know what set a fault code and turned the check engine light on is to have a diagnostic scanner hooked up to the on-board computer and read it for stored diagnostic fault codes. Many auto parts stores will do this service for free- (like auto zone)check with you local parts stores. Hello. I'm wondering if our floor can support the weight of quartz countertops. Existing floor joists are 2x8's (1.5" x7.25" actual), grade 2, S-P-F, on 16" centers. They span 12'-6". There is 19/32" OSB subflooring on them and I plan to add 1/4" cement board over a layer of mortar on top of the OSB. New flooring will be vinyl planks, so some deflection is OK. An island with 2'x10' of base cabinets will be placed about mid span running perpendicular to the joists, and cross over 7 of them. There will be a 3'x10' quartz countertop on the island that weighs about 15.6 lbs/ft. There will also be seating for 4 at the island, again perpendicular to the joists. Along the outside wall of the kitchen there will be another 10' run of cabinets with 2'x10' quartz countertop which is running parallel to the island and inline with it over the same 7 joists. There will not be a refrigerator or range in either of the cabinet runs. Do the existing 2x8's need to be sistered/beefed up in anyway to safely handle the load? Thanks.

My 13 year old old started fever last night 101 to 102, little other symptoms other than lethargic and tired from the fever. I gave him 4 mg Ibuprofen alternated with tylenol every 6 hours, and seemed to respond where he felt better for few hours before the fever would come back. I took him to urgent care today around noon, the doctor could not find anyhting significant. his throat is a little red, his ears are fine and abdomen soft and normal. He took a swab of his throat, the quick test was negative for strep, he also took a blood sample to test for tularemia since we have rabbits on the property. He said to wait until the result comes back on Monday. Well he has a fever now of 104 and I had given him Ibuprofen an hour ago so he is not responding any more to the fever reducers. What should I do? Should I take him the the ER?

Customer: 400 mg of Ibuprofen

Yes, taking your son to the ER is the most prudent decision now It indeed sounds like he is suffering from an infection that is causing fever, and tularemia is a possibility in his case I see his test report is pending but in the meantime he is having high grade fever In fact his fever is not responding to the fever medications you have already given to him, and also he is having high grade fever of 104, in spite of giving the fever meds Since his fever is not responding to the fever meds and also it is of high grade so it is better to take him to the ER asap so that he can receive proper treatments there. He requires intravenous fluids, also more aggressive treatments for the fever which can be easily instituted at the hospital. Also in the hospital they can decide on starting the antibiotic pending his results. In these kind of situations we can also start empirical antibiotic treatment based on the best clinical judgement so that time is not wasted until we get the actual test reports Once again to your main question, yes, it is most prudent decision now to take your son to the ER, for the reasons mentioned above so that he will get aggressive fever management, iv fluids, and also possibly empirical antibiotic treatments which can help him in curing his underlying infection and also controlling his fever. I have a 51/2 month old Great Dane.
Something is bothering him, he squeeze out in pain around his neck or left shoulder area.
He's gone up and out stairs, he's eaten dinner and pooped and peed outside.
He climbed on the couch and whimpered a little bit, he is walking very gingerly.
I've squeezed and massages and felt all over, nothing seems warm or to makes him flinch until I squeeze around his neck. He's seems to be keeping his head down but he will look
up at me. He's not limping. He doesn't want to go out but just keeps wanting to be next to me or in his crate. I know something hurts. Should I bring him in or wait till morning?

Friend, it sounds like he may have a pulled muscle in the neck. I would have him checked in the morning by your family veterinarian. If you notice muscle weakness, difficulty walking, etc. I would have him checked tonight by ER veterinarian otherwise follow up with your family veterinarian.
