I can help as I am a SAM4 dealer, the 01 error is a general error, sucu as pressing the subtotal key before anything has been entered or pressing any function key that doesn't follow the correct procedure. What was the last operation? Have you tried an "Initial Clear"? In my manual it is on page 14. Turn the key to "p", turn the machine off. Press and hold the "Subtotal key while turning it back on. Continue holding it until the reg prints "Initiial Clear" Now sign on a clerk as the display will say "closed" until you sign on a clerk,,,,, 1 and the clerk key.

Does this help?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

by the time you got back to me I had left work. When we came in this morning and plugged it back in it work. The problem was power fail, leaving it unplugged over night must have fixed it.

Hmmm... Try that initial clear procedure so that you know how to do that in the future any lock up will be cleared by the initial clear. I guess some sort of power glitch could've caused it to seemingly lock up but initial clear will clear almost 95% of errors that you encounter with that register but remember you have to sign on a clerk afterwards ...Good luck to you,
