If your friend has an unexpired driver's license/state ID or any of the additional ID items listed below, she can use those, to prove her identity at TSA security screening:

As you can see, your friend will need additional screening, so it's advised to arrive at the airport about 2 hours in advance.

The TSA screeners have databases available to them to look up your friend's information to verify her identity, and the fact that this is her return trip, her passport was already checked as her proof of identity when she left San Francisco, so that's in her favor.
