Our Newfoundland dog, approaching 6 years old, has come down

Customer Question

Our Newfoundland dog, approaching 6 years old, has come down with hermangiosarcoma. Results of the ultrasound did not show any cancer in the abdomen, however, he will be having ct scans today to confirm that result. It was found through a lump on the side of his body. The ultra sound found spots on his shoulder. He was bleeding through his urine but it has now stopped. Can you give me some guidelines as to how to proceed. I have found that the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Clinic has been doing experiments with a certain type of mushroom where they are having some very good results. The news is devastating and we need some help. Thank you so much. Maria

Hello and welcome. My name is ***** ***** I'm a biologist with a special interest in canine cancer. I'm so sorry that you and your dog are having to go through this. It will be important to complete the scheduled tests so you have all the necessary information, but I would go ahead and contact University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Clinic. You need to find out if the trials are still going on. The supplement the university compounded is called I’m-Yunity, and is made from theCoriolus versicolor mushroom. The researchers were surprised at their own findings because the supplement with no other treatment, greatly increased the lifespan of the dogs. Here is contact information:Email: ***@******.*** Phone:(###) ###-####The first clinical studies were done several years ago I'm -Yunity is now being sold directly. However, it is somewhat expensive. If you got it through a clinical trial, it would be free. Here is where you can order it:!/~/product/id=19279717 Chemotherapy is another option. It does also lead to a longer life, and good quality for much of the increased time. The following links have details on studies, treatment methods, and staging. The early stages of the disease are generally those that have the best prognosis. Given the effectiveness of the mushroom supplement in the trials, I would definitely pursue that option first. At least discuss it with your oncologist. Here is a link to a news story on it (you may have already seen it): If you have more questions, let me know. I'll be hoping for the bets possible outcome for your dog.
