I have a friend with a Storm TDX5 which has an error code E100,

I have a friend with a Storm TDX5 which has an error code E100, open or short in the control or motor, I was able to obtain a spare control module and swap them which seemed to fix the problem until eight days later the same error occured crippling the chair. Can you explain what might be the problem--can the gb motors hurt the controller somehow or did I just buy a second worn out ECM? Can the control modules be repaired (apart from giving it to my local medical supply dealer and waiting 6 months?) I assume a contactor/relay has gone out as the distinctive "click" no longer occurs when he turns it on. I've opened the case and read 230ohms across the contactor coil though too.

ECM's typically don't wear out, and the contact coil is not open (230ohms). I think a sensor is going bad in one of the motors overloading the control. Those brushless motors are very$$$$. Make sure you triple check all the connections thru-out the chair before buying anything. Unfortunately there are no replaceable parts in th GB motors.

Is there any way to test the sensors on the GB motors? He had them both replaced recently.

The only way I know how to test GB motors is to bench test with direct voltage.
