Customer Question

Hi, I have a Janome QXL 605 which is only a few months old.
Yesterday it started bunching up the thread and trapping my fabric in the feed dogs. After unscrewing the plate to free the fabric, I now can't get the machine to pick up the bobbin thread. Everytime I try, the top thread gets stuck in the bobbin casing. I have cleaned the machine several times, rethreaded, changed the needle, checked the bobbin and just can't see what I am doing wrong. Please can you help?

hello..first lets remove the plate again and the bobbin case. Next put in a fresh new needle and make sure its up all the way. Now rotate the hand wheel and notice when the needle is on its way back up the eye of the needle need to be just under the tip of the hook. If everything looks right then next visually check the outside of the boobin case for any burrs or scrapes the may need to be smoothed out. Finally lets reinstall bobbin case, then plate and re thread top and bottom. Please reply back. thaanks

Many thanks for the reply. I have just followed your instrucctions, which is basically what I've been trying repeatedly for over a day now, and it worked!! So I stitched for a few inches and then snipped my thread. I then tried to pull the thread back through from the bobbin again and I'm back to the same problem of the top thread getting jammed in the bobbin casing. I've attached a pic with the panel removed so you can see where it is getting stuck.

i see the problem. that little flat piece of metal in deformed. try reforming a bit by pushing it to the right a little. the thread it getting pinched between the bobbin case and the position finger ( flat metal piece). or you could loosen that screw that is holding the position finger and move it to the right a bit. Hope this helps.
